Dr Gislene Wolfart

Psychologist – Eating Disorders

Dr Gislene Wolfart is a Chartered Psychologist Specialising in Psychotherapy and an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society (CPsychol ROSPIP AFBPsS) with several years’ experience working as a Practicing Psychologist.

Gislene has worked in public and private sectors, as well at the university counselling services. She works with a variety of presentations and also specialises in the treatment of eating disorders and their co-morbidities.

Having specialised in the psychodynamic approach during her doctoral training, Gislene is particularly interested in the use of attachment models in the treatment of mental health and life difficulties (e.g. Psychodynamic Psychotherapy), whilst also appreciating the importance of gentle problem solving based coaching in order to achieve change (such as CBT).

In the treatment of Eating Disorders, Gislene has experience of working with all approaches recommended by the NICE guidelines: MANTRA (Maudsley Model of Anorexia Treatment for Adults), SSCM (Specialist Supportive Clinical Management), CBT-E (a type of CBT specific for Eating Disorders) and FDT (Focal Psychodynamic Therapy). These experiences enable her not only to deliver recommended first step treatments but also tailor a piece of therapy to suit individual clients’ needs.

Gislene has attended training in additional therapies including Mentalisation Based Treatment (MBT), and MBT-ED (a specific MBT adaptation for eating disorders).
